GI-tagged clay art, hand-made in Molela, Rajasthan
The wall tile is the form Molela is known for. Each one is built as a hollow relief — a clay slab raised on a "pindi", worked from the front with the figures pulled out of the surface rather than pressed into it, then dried slowly and fired in the village bhatti.

Because the back is hollow the piece stays light enough to hang on an ordinary wall, and because it is fired rather than cast, no two are identical. Sizes run from single panels to full murals; the largest pieces made in this workshop cover entire facades.
